Maker Fellowship

Become a Maker Fellow

Fridays, January 31-May 1, 2020

Are you interested in product design and development? Have you wondered what it would be like to invent something? Build a robot? Create a new product from scratch?

Kravis Lab for Social Impact is excited to announce its second annual Maker Fellowship program. The Maker Fellowship is a premiere experience for student makers interested in product development and prototyping. During the twelve week program, students will work alongside industry experts at the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) to ideate and fabricate a product of their own. The LACI campus will give students access to professional grade prototyping machinery and will provide a pipeline to internships and mentorships for pioneering startups.

The weekly workshops will teach:

  • Tools for generative thinking
  • Digital design and 3D modeling
  • Industrial prototyping techniques
  • User interface and experience design

In the final week, students will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges and potential investors. Participants will also receive a certificate in Prototype Design and Development endorsed by the Advanced Prototyping Center at LACI.

The program will take place every Friday from 9:00am to 2:30pm (with the exception of Spring Break and Cesar Chavez Day) at the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator from Jan 31-May 1, 2020. Transportation will be provided.

INFO SESSION: If you want to learn more and hear from students who participated last year, attend the info session in early October.
