Student Moonshot House

May 17-23, 2020 (stay tuned for details about how to participate)

What do you get when you bring students, emerging social innovators, and seasoned and successful social entrepreneurs together under one roof? Big, hairy, audacious ideas!

In May 2019, 24 students from CMC spent a week living together on the north shore of Oahu in the Hawaiian islands. These students were winners of last year’s Social Innovation challenges: competitions among students on campus for the best ideas to change the world. Some students were working on visionary solutions to improve human rights; others were designing pathbreaking businesses to promote health and wellness; and the rest were innovating practical, profitable ideas to “save the world.”

With the guidance of eight award-winning social entrepreneurs from across America, the students improved their business models, came up with ways to measure their impact, and “dared greatly” – taking a number of bold action steps to make their dreams come true. On the final day, thanks to the generosity of CMC board member Duane Kurisu, the students came to Honolulu to pitch their ideas to alumni, staff, parents, and members of the community and won cash prizes!
