Story of Us Fellowship

The CMC “Story of Us” Fellowship provides students with a reflective and insightful experience that will help them define their story, share their voice and create a call to action to cause positive change in the world.

This program meets once a week for 6 weeks for 2-hour evening dinner workshops. Fellows will craft and present their Ted-style talk sharing their personal journey at a special presentation for the CMC community at the Ath. The ‘talks’ will be recorded and featured on KLab’s youtube channel and promoted across CMCs social media platforms. The 2022 Cohort had over 1000 views! See videos below.

Katherine Almendarez ’22

Listen to Katherine’s inspiring story of how she fled Honduras as a young teen asylum seeker, and threatened with deportation, successfully advocated to stay in the U.S. She is a senior at CMC pursuing law to become a legal advocate for asylum seekers from oppressed regions.

Andrea Posada ’25

Andrea shares her challenges with imposter syndrome which manifested in perfectionism and self-doubt. How did she overcome it? By recognizing that asking for help is a strength and not a weakness.

Sophia shares her challenges growing up as an English language learner in the US, the issues ESL students face being segregated in schools, and how inclusivity impacts lifelong success.

My shares her experience growing up in a marginalized community, her family’s struggle with food insecurity, and an impactful encounter with a neighbor that taught her the power of human connection, and inspired her to pay her good fortune forward.
